You knew what...?: Saab Automobile AB is a Swedish association of automobile manufacturers.
The company originated in 1937 as a manufacturer of aircraft, mostly military type, the meaning of SAAB is Svenska Aeroplan AB, (Swedish Aeroplanes Corporation).

In April 1946 work began on the manufacture of cars with the prototype Saab 92.001
In 1949 the series production of the Saab 92 model takes place, due to the development of these vehicles by aeronautical engineers, these models were always at the latest in technology while they had exceptional aerodynamics, which made their designs very technological, fast and safe vehicles.
In 1955 they launched the Saab 93 model, with the particularity of tubeless tires, a real innovation.
In 1959, they launched the first 7-seater family car of the brand, the Saab 95 Station Wagon, a model that included a folding third row, so it could be folded and used as a loading area.
In its desire to improve and innovate, Saab entered the world of Rally, obtaining several important victories, such as the Monte Carlo Rally or the RCA of England.
In 1956, Saab designed the first two-seater of the brand, the sonett, the idea was to be able to take a sports car to the street, but with the change of regulations that allowed to adapt street vehicle to circuits, this idea lost force, however Saab continued with the project.
In the 70s, Saab created the 96 a longer model than its predecessor the 93, it included great improvements both in power and safety, being the first model that I enjoy seat belts, front headrests, as well as deformable sunshades in case of accident.
In 1968, Saab launched the Saab 99, a revolution for both the brand and the motor world, both in terms of safety, aesthetics and engine level.
At the level of equipment, they introduced heated seats, headlamps, starter inhibitor without fastened belts, reinforcement bars on the doors, a bumper with elastic rubber that absorbed the shocks and could be repaired also in blows less than 10 km/h.
Although the real revolution was its turbocharged engine, this managed to get the most out of a low-displacement engine, so it was more than 4 decades ahead of the turbo engines we have today.

In 1989, the company was divided into three major companies, Saab AB (Aircraft); Scania AB (Commercial Vehicles) and Saab Automobile AB (Automobiles).
In that same year General Motors acquired 50% of the automobile section, and in 2000, exercised its right over the remaining 50%.
In 2005, General Motors introduced Saab to the American market, with the models the Saab 9-2X (based on the Subaru Impreza) and the Saab 9-7X (based on the Chevrolet Trailblazer), which was a resounding failure and in 2008 they canceled their manufacture, because of this the manufacture went from being in Sweden, to the Opel factory in Germany.

In 2010, Saab is sold to Skypers Cars N. V. a Dutch factory, finally, in 201 the brand is declared bankrupt.
